Job Description

As a Senior Hydrologist you would report to Head of Energy Management.

Your main responsibilities:

You will work with Statkraft's core business and be a key contributor to the development and maintenance of our hydrological models for our hydropower portfolio in India Support production planning projects for hydropower assets in India Prepare hydrological inputs for energy market models (EMPS, SDDP) for important price areas in India, You will work with distributed and machine learning based hydrological modelling and prepare spatial data as model input for energy management You will use scripting (python) based analysis tools and post-processing algorithms for maintaining hydrological forecasting models. You will adapt and use Statkraft’s Hydrologic Forecasting Toolbox (SHyFT) for India. This is an internally developed open-source framework for providing distributed hydrological forecasts for hydropower production You will adapt on both performing and supervising discharge measurements in the field

Qualifications

Natural science education equivalent to Master’s Degree (from specialised institutes like TERI etc.) or an Engineering degree in Hydrology/Meteorology/Geo-sciences Research background in Hydrology would have additional preference. Familiarity with earth sciences (hydro-meteorology) modelling. Relevant experience of 8-10 years in academia or industry High proficiency in scripting with special emphasis on Python, GIS and field measurement techniques. Good analytical skills and knowledge of data flow. Good knowledge of Indian energy market Expertise in modelling, statistical analysis and use of geo-spatial data Good collaborative skills, committed, self-motivated and structured Good written and oral presentation ability in English Ability to plan ahead and work systematically and organized to deliver with high standards and quality
