Senior Data Analyst/Engineer

Oslo, Norway Aize AS Full time

What you tell your friends you do

“As a Senior Data Analyst/Engineer, I turn chaos into order and ambiguity into profits, while helping build data ingestion pipelines for our customers”

What you will really be doing

Obtaining, converting, and contextualizing data in a way that can be used to help drive our SaaS product and working to integrate the data into a stable and extensible pipeline.

Work with the product teams to help them understand how they can use available data for building new user experiences.

Identifying relevant datasets through deep engagement with customer problems as well as working with customer engineers and providing them with progress updates as part of a key delivery team.

Identify opportunities for and create self-service tools that make data onboarding easier.

How you will be doing this

You will be a part of an agile and multidisciplinary team, bringing your own unique skill set to the table and collaborating with kind colleagues to accomplish your goals. You prioritize your work with the team and its product owner, weighing both the business and technical value of each task.

You don’t do things just because they were always done that way. You don’t ignore the lessons learned, however - even those learned by others. There’s no template for what we do. Your tools will be familiar, but as an Aizer you’ll be doing lots of firsts. So you need a brain for analysis and engineering, and the heart of an explorer.

Where you will be doing this
You are expected to be based out of Oslo as we continue to build our teams. Thanks to our flexible working approach you can blend work and leisure, essentially having a "workation"

The Team
Day to day, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a driven and creative team of architects, developers and data analysts/engineers developing tools to make data migrations, onboarding and access easier over time.

Skills & Requirements:

Problem-solving & coding skills: ability to take on open-ended problems in unstructured environments, and write scalable, (integration) tested and future-proof code

Adaptability: adaptive and introspective; willing to learn, teach, lead, and follow

3+ years of experience: working as a data analyst/engineer or in a relevant field

English Proficiency: even though we are developing a tool to collaborate digitally, it’s still evidently important to communicate verbally, therefore we require a professional speaking proficiency in English

Python Proficiency: when it comes to tech stack, we require proficiency in Python and experience delivering production-grade data pipelines

Other tech skills

  • Understanding of APIs and experience using them
  • Databricks
  • Writing integration tests
  • Gitlab or equivalent

Nice-to-have skills:

  • Experience developing and/or deploying services on a cloud platform and working with containers (e.g., Docker)
  • Azure
  • Apache Spark
  • Databricks, Snowflake, or any relevant data platform
  • Document databases, graph databases
  • SQL

Passion: Most importantly, we are looking for you who are passionate about using new technology to help solve complex problems.

We Offer

  • Money.
  • A beefy enough MacBook Pro or equivalent laptop running Windows.
  • Tech talks, lunch and learns…
  • To help you keep your money, we also chip in on your pension, pay for your travels and keep you safe with insurance.
  • Speaking of safe, we have our very own private health clinic.
  • Room for you to do things your way.
  • Lots of things you can learn through our skilled sparring partners.
  • 25 days of paid leave, so long as you promise to come back Maybe you want to use a couple of days in one of our cabins; Gaustablikk, Beitostølen, Hafjell, Tjøme ++?
  • We like to inspire your passion by giving you the opportunity to visit events and learn new things.
  • And yes, we also have the industry standard perks such as a free phone plan, broadband at home, hardware, gym, beer, ping pong tables, great lunch, team activities and awesome parties.
