Wood Consulting is seeking a talented Lead Subsea Pipeline Engineer to join our Norway Consulting team. We specialize in engineering for the subsea and marine sector, supporting fast-moving projects in Oil and Gas and Energy Transition. You will join a strong team locally in Norway and therefore all candidates must currently have the right to reside/work in Norway. This is not a remote working position.

Responsibilities

The Lead Subsea Pipeline Engineer will:

  • Provide pipelines expertise to project and operations teams. DnV is typically our governing standard and familiarity is a requirement.
  • Perform pipeline design activities with close interface to relevant disciplines, i.e. Subsea Production System (SPS) / Subsea Structures disciplines / Subsea, Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines (SURF).
  • Participate and contribute in safety review meetings (HAZID, HAZOP), audits, verification and design reviews as part of wider project study requirements etc.
  • Participate and contribute in project risk workshops. Identify and follow up relevant risks and opportunities with corresponding actions.
  • Lead small teams of junior subsea pipelines design team members.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the following skills and experience will include:

  • Proven experience in pipeline design (>10 years for Lead); and a Master's degree in relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Proficiency in the use of industry standard software packages such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, Orcaflex, Navimodel etc.
  • Technical competence in Subsea-specific pipeline design elements, for example:
    • Rigid Pipelines and/or Flexible Flowlines
    • Routing
    • Pipeline mechanical design, wall thickness, coating
    • Freespan, OBS, Expansion and Buckling design
    • Pipe-Soil Interaction
    • Spools, integration of subsea connectors, flanges, ILTs etc.
    • Pipeline Marine Installation aspects.
    • Protection designs for trawl and pull-over loading, dropped objects.
