Bergen, Vestland, Norway COWI Full time

Do you have a passion for collaboration and value creation together with customers? Can you manage large complex infrastructure projects? Are you motivated to lead complex railway projects that contribute to a greener, sustainable world? Then this could be the next step in your career

Everything starts with the customer - that is what drives the development
COWI is an international engineering consulting company with around 1300 employees in Norway and is considered a leader in the transportation sector. The Transport Division in Norway consists of approx. 300 employees divided into 5 departments.

With an adventurous market in the transportation sector in Norway, competition in the consulting market has intensified and we see that communication, collaboration, innovation and efficiency are key parameters in both tenders and implementation. We are searching for a Project Director who is highly motivated and ready to advance the field of project management.

As a Project Director, you will work closely with clients and stakeholders to develop solutions that align with COWI's Future Now strategy, focusing on sustainability, innovation, and digital transformation. Reporting directly to the Head of Projects, Railway, you will be a key player in advancing our market position and delivering long-term value to our customers.

Your key activities will be:

  • Establish and maintain solid, trust-based relationships with clients, understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutions.
  • Manage large-scale, high-risk railway projects, ensuring quality, financial performance, and operational excellence.
  • Contribute to marketing and tendering activities, positioning COWI as a leader in infrastructure projects within transportation.
  • Leading and mentoring a culture of knowledge-sharing and continuous learning and innovation.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to contribute to business development, strategy, and the implementation of the Future Now strategy.

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.
The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners, or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get stuck in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.

On top of that you will have:

  • Higher education in engineering, project management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience managing complex infrastructure projects, preferably in the railway sector.
  • Ability to manage complex projects.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • A motivated and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Fluency in Scandinavian language and English, both written and spoken.

A place to work and so much more
At COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and livable world. We do it by applying our knowledge and curiosity - and sometimes even our courage - to create the solutions the world needs today to enable a better tomorrow. That is why we say no to fossil-based projects and aspire to have 100% of our revenue come from activities that move our customers towards sustainability. We value differences and development and cultivate an environment of belonging and having fun.
