About the role

As we continue to expand our Research & Development (R&D) capabilities at reMarkable, we are seeking an experienced Senior Software R&D Engineer to play a critical role in developing groundbreaking technology solutions. The role will be responsible for conducting R&D activities with a focus on embedded systems and low-level programming. By exploring domains where physics meets electronics and software, we want this role to play a key part in us remaining as the leading company in delivering excellent user experiences for our customers.

Your responsibilities may include

  • Driving technological advancements and innovation within the designated area.

  • Utilizing deep technical expertise and strategic R&D knowledge to lead projects.

  • Conducting advanced research to explore new technologies and methodologies. Discover how technologies can be adopted and used in our products.

  • Developing prototypes and proof-of-concept models to demonstrate feasibility.

We are looking for the following:

  • Broad and deep knowledge of embedded systems, hardware architecture, and relevant programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Rust, Zig, assembly).

  • An understanding of hardware schematics and electronic design. Proficiency in using debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.

  • Knowledge of microcontroller architectures and their peripherals.

  • Experience with development of device drivers, in addition to experience with communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, USB) and interfacing with sensors, actuators, and other external devices.
