Stavanger, Rogaland, Norway NOV Full time

From downtime to go-time: Do you thrive with solving complex technical problems, working on complex OT systems, and making a real difference to your customers?

As our new Subject Matter Expert, you will be responsible for technical assignments, diagnostics, and operation of equipment and systems. You will assist and perform remote troubleshooting, diagnostics, and find solutions to technical problems. As part of the role, you will also be expected to recommend product or process modifications and/or improvements.

About us:

At the heart of NOV's Aftermarket group, the Technical Equipment Support Services (TESS) department is where we deliver real solutions — fast. We're here 24/7, every single day of the year, supporting rigs across the globe.

Whether you have acquired your skills through university or have relevant experience, we are looking for a new Subject Matter Expert to contribute to NOV's technology adventure. Our ideal candidate possesses strong customer focus and can work both independently and in teams across time zones and cultures. Dealing directly with customers requires structure and good communication skills. Our working language is English.

The Subject Matter Experts (SME) work rotation is based on a 5-week shift pattern: 1 week night shift, 1 week off, 1 week day shift, and 2 weeks off.

Duties & Responsibilities:

This role combines technical expertise, direct customer contact, and collaboration. You will:

  • Provide technical support within a 'product family' for NOV delivered system/equipment to a global internal and external customer base.
  • As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), deliver world-class support, 24/7.
  • Provide direct technical support through troubleshooting, analysis, and after-action reviews on complex issues.
  • Connect from a NOV Support center to customer control systems to perform remote support globally.
  • Coordinate with other internal and external specialists to support complex issues.
  • Prepare reports with damage assessments and recommended corrective/maintenance action based on customer and field service reports, and data from NOV logging or monitoring systems.

Experience:

  • 3 years plus of technical and operational experience with NOV Drilling equipment or similar technologies.
  • Offshore or I&C experience is preferred.

Skills, training, or special knowledge:

  • Knowledge of PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, networks, and familiarity with virtualization solutions. Familiarity with drilling automation products is a big plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with sudden shifts in priority.

Sounds like an interesting opportunity?

Applications are reviewed on a continuous basis, so don't hesitate to apply. We accept applications in English and Norwegian.

For technical questions, contact Frode Laursen, Technical Leader, COE 2 - Cyberbase Controls, (+47)45235033.
