Postdoc research fellowship in stem cell transplantation research

The position is available from April 2025, but the startup date is flexible. The position will be located in the laboratory of Professor Jahnsen at Oslo University Hospital – Rikshospitalet (website: jahnsenlab.org). Prof. Frode Jahnsen is the principal investigator of the study. The aim of the project is to understand why patients that are treated with stem cell transplantation develop acute graft versus host disease (aGVHD) in the gut.

The successful candidate will work closely with bioinformaticians, immunologists, pathologists, and hematologists. There is a study nurse on the project that will be responsible for obtaining samples from patients.
The candidate will:
- Be involved in the follow-up of recruited patients together with the study nurse and hematologists.
- Prepare samples for single-cell transcriptome analysis.
- Analyze samples, both single cells and tissue sections, with state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools.
- Combine analysis of high-density spatial transcriptomics and T-cell receptor clonotypes.
- Analyze gut microbiota with the latest bioinformatics tools.
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must hold a PhD degree in informatics, mathematics, bioinformatics, computational biology, biology, immunology, medicine, or a related field.
- Experience in bioinformatics and single-cell technologies.
- Experience in tissue handling and analysis.
- Knowledge in programming languages such as Python.
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
- The candidate will work in a very ambitious interdisciplinary setting, which will require high flexibility.
