ABB Norway PAEN (Process Automation and Energy Industries) is involved in projects delivering electrical equipment and advanced control systems covering a broad field of applications, such as the oil and gas industry, subsea electrical systems, power from shore to oil installations, offshore wind, hydro power plants, onshore and offshore fish farms, and more. As Senior Project Lead Engineer you are accountable for delivery in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, cost estimates and safety requirements of the project. You provide technical support for engineering, testing, installation and commissioning activities and act as a technical specialist with good knowledge on electrical systems. In this role, you will work closely with the Project Management team, the Project Engineering team, suppliers, and customers.

Your responsibilities

1. Engineering & Design of electrical power distribution plants, including high, medium and low voltage switchboards, transformers, rotating equipment, and more.
2. Design solutions and follow up specifications according to customer's requirements and applicable standards.
3. Implement customer functional requirements into ABB's products.
4. Follow up and execute review and upgrade-activities in projects.
5. The position involves working together with Norwegian and international customers and vendors; therefore, some travelling must be expected.
6. Technical lead and coordinator of deliveries of electrical and automation packages for hydropower plants containing several disciplines and types of projects (including service).
7. Technical sales support during tendering phase of hydropower rehab projects of electrical and automation systems.
8. Tendering, engineering, and execution of hydropower services such as replacements, upgrades, modernization, repairs, condition assessment.
9. Support with hands-on trouble-shooting, mainly for electrical systems, control systems, and hydropower generators.
10. Technical customer support.
11. Engineering of MV switchgear (tailormade and standard metal-enclosed) and busbar replacements and modifications.
12. Engineering of HV air insulated switchgears.
13. Electrical and mechanical design, trouble shooting, condition assessment, and commissioning of hydro generators.
14. Electrical design of softstarter systems for hydropower pump-motors.

Your background

1. Experience within technical sales, engineering, site-management, and project management within replacements of MV switchgear and BoP for hydropower plants and pump-generating plants.
2. Experience/knowledge with electrical design of hydropower generators.
3. Experience with a broad range of technical aspects of hydropower plants, encompassing electrical, mechanical, functional, and operational issues.
4. Experience as a Senior Project Engineer in electrical projects, covering High and Medium Voltage packages (AIS and GIS. 5-132kV), Grid-connection, Generators, Transformers (dry type, oil type), and synchronization.
5. Knowledge of multifunction protection relays & their role in a power system is a must.
6. Familiarity with interfacing electrical equipment with automation systems, e.g., the IEC61850 standard is a major benefit.
7. B.Sc. or M.Sc. or equivalent in Electric Power Engineering.
8. Fluent in both Norwegian and English, verbal and written.
9. Team player and service-minded.
10. Eager to learn and develop yourself and your colleagues.
11. Ability to combine theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
12. Natural inclination to coach, support, and advise colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
