Oslo, Oslo County, Norway sensiBel Full time

sensiBel is a Norwegian deep-tech company developing the next generation MEMS microphone. The microphone is based on a patented optical readout technology enabling professional grade performance in a small package. Our ambition is to disrupt the market and enable new and improved user experiences in a wide range of applications. It all comes down to the fundamentals in the audio signal processing chain – the microphone. We believe in professional grade audio for everyone

About the job

It's an exciting time to join sensiBel on our journey to bring the next generation microphone technology to the market. You will be part of a highly skilled, committed and motivated team that embraces challenging tasks every day. As a full-time optical development engineer, you will work closely with our skilled technical team to further develop the core optical technology of our MEMS microphone and future products. You will work with scaling a technology that will ship products to the most demanding consumer electronics customers. You will be a key contributor to our success and have fun along the way.

Key responsibilities

  1. Run optics simulations of our core optical system, including simulations of our next generation concepts.
  2. Ensure performance in the optical system through detailed simulations and measurements, given input from design, manufacturing, and assembly tolerances.
  3. Develop our in-house code for optical simulations.
  4. Develop and build optical characterization setups for sub-component characterization.
  5. Support our development and production projects within assembly and microfabrication for component manufacturing.
  6. Structure and analyze simulation and test data to optimize yield and quality.

Qualifications and skills

We are seeking a person with a Masters or PhD in Physics or Engineering, with a focus on practical and theoretical micro-optics, optical MEMS, or photonics. Knowledge and experience of optical semiconductor and microtechnology including VCSEL and diffractive optics is a big advantage. Some travel (e.g. to the production facilities) is expected. Some of the work includes on-site lab work in Oslo.

  1. M.Sc. in electrical engineering, with a focus on optics or similar.
  2. Master's or PhD work, or work experience within optics, photonics, or micro-optics.
  3. Experience with coding and simulations in one or more programming languages and programs such as Python or Matlab.
  4. Experience and knowledge of microsystems or MEMS processing and integration.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.

Personal skills

We are looking for an ambitious, self-motivated team player with strong collaboration skills. You are accountable and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. You communicate well and are dedicated to getting things done. We are searching for a team member who has a passion and interest in growing with their job, takes an active role in an open informal work environment, has a genuine interest to perform at the highest of their ability, and ultimately contributes to the success of bringing the next generation microphone to the market. You need to have experience within coding and simulations, and some experience with practical lab optics. A passion for audio is a big plus

Benefits

  1. Competitive salary and share ownership.
  2. 5 weeks annual paid vacation.
  3. Insurance and pension plan.
  4. Flexible working hours.
  5. Family friendly policies.
