The opportunity
We're currently looking for a Business Controller to join our Finance team in Norway to ensure our market receives all the support needed. Someone with a passion for electric mobility, an interest in technology, and a desire to create the change we know is needed.
This position is located at our office in Fornebu right outside of Oslo and is an onsite position. You will work closely with and support the Senior Business Controller, to whom you will report. The team also consists of one Finance & Admin Support colleague.
The responsibilities
In this role, you'll be responsible for certain month-end closing activities for the market and preparing necessary reports and accruals for the accounting cluster. You will need to control and approve invoices and requisitions. The role also includes monitoring the cost of internal cars together with relevant stakeholders. It is expected that you work on process improvements and be the point of contact for business colleagues and the shared service center for invoice-related issues and local requirements of retail and fleet. Working as a member of our Finance Team, you'll have a key supporting role towards the Senior Business Controller and other relevant stakeholders such as PSU Management. This consists of correct, timely data and analyses as well as other finance administrative tasks. Below is a breakdown of the various supporting activities included in the role:
- Support Senior Business Controller with monthly follow-up and reporting of spend vs. budget together with relevant stakeholders, e.g.,
- Discounts and tactical campaigns
- Operating Expenses
- Credit control activities together with business stakeholders.
- Provide correct booking instructions for local colleagues and the accounting team.
- Act as approver and advisor in the Purchase-to-Pay processes.
- Participate in the inventory stock count process.
The ideal candidate
To succeed in this role, and at Polestar in general, there are a few characteristics you'll need to have: independence, solution-oriented thinking, and curiosity. We are looking for someone who is proactive and supportive to colleagues, with clear and effective communication skills. A pragmatic person who is analytical and able to prioritize.
In addition, you'll need the following qualifications:
- General understanding of accounting, including payables and receivables.
- 2 years' experience working in finance, including at least one year in a controlling role.
- Good knowledge of MS-Office, particularly Excel, and comfortable in a multi-system environment.
- BSc in a relevant field of study (Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or similar).
