The role:
In this role, you will be required to perform Post-Editing (light and full) on Machine Translation outputs in accordance with client specifications. You will:

  • Ensure target text correctly reflects the meaning of the source
  • Provide corrections and text optimization based on the MT output
  • Understand post-editing guidelines and ensure quality standards meet client expectations
  • Perform linguistic tasks as per project instructions and other references (translation memory, glossary, style guides, etc.)
  • Ensure high grammatical accuracy while maintaining key terminology, spotting inconsistencies and incorrect cultural references
  • Correct formatting/tagging, punctuation, country specifics, terminology, style, fluency as per guidelines

Main requirements:

  • Degree in Translation, Applied Linguistics or equivalent experience
  • Native speaker in Norwegian language
  • Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE) experience required
  • Preferred experience in translation and proofreading specialized in IT and Software
  • Excellent command of the English language in both comprehension and writing
  • Experience with Translation Memory tools and Translation Management Systems (TMS)
  • IT skills with knowledge and experience of SDL Studio and CAT tools
  • Comfortable with technology and open to learn to use new tools
  • Excellent understanding of Machine Translation Post-Editing processes and tools
  • Linguistic and cultural competences of both source and target language
  • Adaptive to fast-paced work environment with multiple changes of project priorities
  • Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills

Field of expertise: Marketing, IT/Software and technical expertise including Software UI and product documentation translation

Location: Remote

Schedule: This work is based on project needs. Hours can vary and flexibility with a changing schedule is very important.

Additional Requirements: Native in Norwegian with a degree in Applied Linguistics, Translation or equivalent experience. IT skilled with knowledge and experience of SDL Studio and CAT tools. Preferred experience as a translator specialized in translation and proofreading of the required field (IT, SW, Documentation, and preferably Marketing). Editorial and/or journalistic skills and up-to-date with language and terminology trends. Comfortable with technology. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, problem solving and communication skills. As a plus, experience translating content containing embedded variables in an XML environment with a high comfort level in manipulating XML type tags during translation. Demonstrated aptitude to independently learn new technologies - some projects might be performed using proprietary localisation tool sets. Self-motivated and pro-active with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities. Flexibility to respond and react to changing priorities quickly and efficiently. Excellent written and spoken English to truly understand the meaning and translate as if it were originally written in target language. Obsessed by the detail, quality-driven and has a passion for languages. Understanding and attitude to work within a confidential environment. Able to work in a fast paced, demanding environment with multiple changes in project priorities and tight deadlines. Good availability, potentially at least 4 to 6 hours per day and quick response times.
