Oslo, Oslo County, Norway University of Oslo Full time

A tenure-track position is available at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Oslo.

This position is an integral part of the department's strategic initiative in industrial pharmacy and radiopharmacy. The Department of Pharmacy offers access to state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities when moving into the new Life Science building in 2026, a key hub for life science research in the Oslo region. The successful candidate will benefit from the new and comprehensive equipment park, ties to the Norwegian Nuclear Research Centre (NNRC) funded by the Norwegian Research Council and Nordic POP/NordicPharmaTrain funded by NordForsk with opportunities for international research stays, and engagement with a high-caliber international research community.

This role supports our broader industrial strategy within Norway's leading academic institution, providing an excellent environment for advancing pharmaceutics research. The position is expected to contribute to establishing a closer collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry and increase competence within radiopharmacy. Mentoring and support will be provided, but any experience within this will be beneficial.

The appointment is a fixed-term postdoctoral position for six years. During this fixed-term period, the candidate is given the opportunity to qualify for a tenured position. The Department of Pharmacy may instruct departmental duties limited up to 25% of total working hours.

Pursuant to the Act relating to universities and university colleges, post holders at institutions can only be employed for one fixed-term period in a tenure-track position. Anyone employed for a fixed-term period of more than one year in an ordinary postdoctoral position pursuant to the Regulations to the Act on Universities and Colleges or who has held such a postdoctoral appointment at a foreign institution cannot be employed in a fixed-term postdoctoral tenure-track position.

Tenure-track positions at the University of Oslo are reserved for candidates who are expected to develop the competence and independence required to build and head a research group at a high international level. A formal midway assessment will be held, which will be completed before the candidate has been employed for four years. Before the end of the fixed-term period, the institution shall assess whether the requirements laid down in the employment contract have been met.

The Department of Pharmacy seeks a highly motivated, dynamic, collaboration-oriented, and innovative researcher with educational skills.

The cluster of pharmaceutical biotech industry and academia in the Oslo area is growing and the concept of Oslo Science City with the new Life Science building in progress is an important part of this development. The Department will move into the new Life Science building in 2026/2027, where interdisciplinary collaborations and scientific convergence will be important. This will provide new opportunities for groundbreaking research and innovation.

The successful applicant is expected to contribute to strengthening the research within industrial pharmaceutics as well as to promote interdisciplinary and international cooperation.

The candidate will be expected to collaborate with the existing research groups in both pharmaceutics and medicinal chemistry at the department as well as other relevant research environments, including industry. Relevant research and innovation are typically within industrial pharmacy, and in particular radiopharmacy, theranostics, sterile production, physical chemistry, and formulation of drug products.

The successful candidate will teach at all levels, including the master- and PhD levels. The position will entail teaching in various areas of pharmaceutics, including radiopharmacy to students at all levels, including lectures, lab/group teaching, and supervision.

To promote a strategic career path, all postdoctoral research fellows are required to submit a professional development plan no later than one month after commencement of the postdoctoral period.
