Job Description

Job Title: Second Officer - Navigation Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Officer to join our team at MACNA. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe navigation of our vessels and will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Navigation and Safety: The Second Officer will be responsible for the safe navigation of the vessel, including the preparation and presentation of passage plans, the maintenance of up-to-date charts and publications, and the conduct of periodic checks on bridge equipment.
  2. Radio and Medical Operations: The Second Officer will also be responsible for the operation of the vessel's radio equipment and will act as the designated Radio Officer and Medical Officer. This will include the administration of medicines to the crew, the maintenance of medical records and logs, and the preparation of medical reports.
  3. Deck Department Management: The Second Officer will be responsible for the upkeep of the deck department, including the maintenance of accurate records and the completion of periodical reports.
  4. Training and Development: The Second Officer will be responsible for delivering familiarization training to new personnel and will assist the Chief Officer in conducting and reviewing safety drills.
  5. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: The Second Officer will ensure that the vessel complies with all relevant regulatory requirements, including the maintenance of a valid medicine chest certificate.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications and Experience: The successful candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience as a Second Officer in a similar role, with a strong background in navigation and safety.
  • Certifications and Licenses: The candidate will hold a valid STCW COC certificate, a Covid-19 certificate, and a Health certificate. A US Visa C1/D is preferred but not required at the time of application.
  • Language Skills: The candidate will have excellent English language skills, with a strong proficiency in written and spoken English.
