Role OverviewThe Senior Technical Operations Engineer will be an integral part of the EMEA Operations Team.
The primary objective of this position is to deliver specialized technical knowledge to EMEA clients and operational teams across the Mavenir product suite and its implementations. This role will serve as the technical liaison to both external partners and internal teams, ensuring a seamless exchange of information and promoting knowledge sharing.
The engineer must possess extensive experience in EPC/5GC/NFV/Kubernetes, demonstrate the ability to quickly grasp new concepts, and be ready to engage in hands-on learning while working. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration with peers, internal teams, and customer technical personnel.
This is a practical role that encompasses deployment, integration, troubleshooting, and problem resolution. A deep understanding of telecom protocols and technologies such as HTTP2, NGAP, DIAMETER, GTP, and S1AP is crucial.
The engineer should be capable of performing under pressure to meet tight deadlines and understand the business implications of the projects being executed.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support:

• Foster robust relationships with R&D and act as the primary interface for project-related communications

• Collaborate with customer technical teams to deploy and integrate systems into their networks, supporting their testing efforts

• Conduct acceptance testing with customers to confirm that products meet specified requirements

• Enhance coding skills to thoroughly investigate issues before escalating to R&D

• Engage in continuous process improvement and participate in post-project reviews

• Utilize provided testing tools to capture and analyze logs required by R&D

• Communicate effectively with customers to clarify problems and requirements

• Maintain focus on project timelines to ensure critical milestones are achieved

• Prepare and review project documentation, such as Method of Procedures (MOP), ensuring accuracy and completeness

• Identify key contacts in R&D Release Management and Engineering to expedite customer inquiries

• Escalate critical issues to the Technical Operations Lead as necessary

• Assist support teams with upgrade executions when needed

• Review and update bug tracking entries to provide R&D with accurate data

• Participate in initiatives to enhance product debugging capabilities

• Offer technical guidance and support to EMEA Support Teams

• Provide Tier 3 support during outages for projects you have contributed to


• Successfully conclude projects by completing the go-live checklist

• Share knowledge and insights with the broader team by updating the knowledge base
Quality:

• Review and revise the technical components of the quality system to ensure accuracy and currency

• Adhere to internal delivery milestones and reject any submissions that do not meet quality standards

• Participate in the transition from Operations to Support

• Provide ongoing feedback on current processes to promote continuous improvement

Job Requirements


• Extensive experience with UNIX (Solaris or Redhat Linux)

• Proven skills in UNIX System Administration

• Strong coding background

• Experience in installing, upgrading, and configuring hardware and software

• Knowledge of mobile network technologies

• Solid understanding of software engineering principles

• Familiarity with 5GC SA/NSA protocols and architecture

• Experience with 4G EPC (PGW/SGW/MME/PCRF) products and architecture

• Comprehensive understanding of NFV (RedHat, VMWare, or Wind River)

• Ability to troubleshoot issues in the aforementioned environments

• Experience with HP and Dell platforms is advantageous

• Familiarity with VMWare or KVM-based virtualization is a plus

• Experience with IP networks is beneficial

• Knowledge of vIMS or vRAN is a plus
