Project Details

This PhD project aims to identify potential target genes for precision breeding of reproductive characteristics in Atlantic salmon. You will conduct research to study the molecular basis of life-history variation in this species, with implications for both basic and applied science.

About the Research Methodology

As a researcher in this project, you will design experiments to study reproductive traits and identify potential target genes using molecular genetics and bioinformatics tools. You will also analyze data to understand the molecular mechanisms controlling allometry and maturation in Atlantic salmon.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in a relevant field of study, such as molecular biology or genetics.
  • Grade average of B or better, demonstrating academic excellence.
  • Proficiency in English, as you will be working with international collaborators.
  • Preferred skills include experience in molecular genetics wet-lab work, programming skills in R, and familiarity with bioinformatics.
  • Advantageous: Prior experience in functional genomics, particularly in studying reproductive traits.

Application Instructions

  • Submit your application electronically by 1st September 2024, including your complete CV, copies of your bachelor and master's degrees, and contact information for 1-3 references.
  • Ensure all required documents are uploaded with your application.
