Second Engineer

Job Summary:

The Second Engineer is a key member of the MACNA team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our marine vessels. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintenance Planning: Collaborate with the Chief Engineer to develop and implement maintenance plans, ensuring that all necessary work is completed on schedule and within budget.
• Machinery Operations: Oversee the operation of all marine machinery, including engines, pumps, and other equipment, to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
• Repair and Maintenance: Lead repair and maintenance efforts for all marine equipment, including deck equipment, to ensure that all systems are functioning properly.
• Spare Parts Management: Ensure that spare parts are properly stocked and maintained to minimize downtime and reduce costs.
• Reporting and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including reporting any abnormalities or issues to the Chief Engineer.
• Risk Assessment and Toolbox Talks: Conduct regular risk assessments and toolbox talks to ensure that all crew members are aware of potential hazards and take necessary precautions.
• Tool and Store Management: Oversee the proper care and maintenance of tools and stores, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.
• Engine Room and Bilge Maintenance: Ensure that the engine room and bilges are kept clean and dry, and that all safety equipment is properly maintained.
• Qualifications and Competence:
  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience as a Chief Officer in a high-speed craft, RO-RO passenger, or bulk carrier.
  • Certifications: US Visa C1/D, Covid-19 Certificate, STCW COC certificate, English Marlins test, and Health certificate.
  • Education: Second Engineer Officer COC.
