Job DescriptionJob Title: Second Officer - Navigation Specialist
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Officer to join our team at MACNA. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe navigation of our vessels and will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:- Navigation and Safety: The Second Officer will be responsible for the safe navigation of the vessel, including the preparation and presentation of passage plans, the maintenance of up-to-date charts and publications, and the conduct of safe navigation during their watch.
- Bridge Equipment and Maintenance: The Second Officer will be responsible for the upkeep of all bridge equipment, including the conduct of periodic checks and the reporting of any malfunctions to the Master.
- Radio and Medical Officer: The Second Officer will act as the designated Radio Officer and Medical Officer of the ship, responsible for the maintenance of hospital and medical facilities onboard, including records inventory and the issuance of medicines and equipment.
- Medical Administration: The Second Officer will administer medicines to the ship's crew during sailing under the guidance of the Master, prepare medical reports, maintain medical logs, and Doctor referral forms as necessary.
- Medicine Chest Management: The Second Officer will ensure that the contents of the medicine chest are in good order and any consumables are promptly replaced, re-filled, and recorded in the Medicine Chest Logbook.
- Assistance to Chief Officer: The Second Officer will assist the Chief Officer in conducting and reviewing safety drills.
- Compliance with Regulations: The Second Officer will ensure that the vessel complies with all relevant regulations and standards, including those related to safety, security, and environmental protection.
- Qualifications and Experience: The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of experience as a Second Officer in a similar role, with a strong background in navigation and safety.
- Certifications and Licenses: The successful candidate will hold a valid STCW COC certificate, a Covid-19 Certificate, and a Health Certificate.
- Language Skills: The successful candidate will have excellent English language skills, with a strong proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Other Requirements: The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
