Bain & Company is expanding its energy transition modelling team to provide cutting-edge insights and support the continued development of INTERSECT, our proprietary Carbon and Energy Transition modelling capability. As a member of this dynamic team, you will be part of a growing centre of excellence focused on quantitative assessment of future energy pathways across different technologies and energy vectors.
The role will involve working closely with clients to deliver bespoke scenarios and sensitivities around various model parameters and assumptions, building new modules to expand the model's coverage, and contributing to the construction of supply and demand forecasts for different technologies taking into account the future evolution of costs and prices.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Support the deployment of INTERSECT and inform clients' toughest questions about the energy transition;
- Run model simulations to provide tailored analysis and recommendations;
- Build new modules to enhance the model's capabilities;
- Contribute to supply and demand forecasts for different technologies.
About You: We are seeking an experienced economist or coder with a strong background in computable general equilibrium (CGE) models or optimisation languages such as GAMS or GEMPACK. A post-graduate degree in economics or econometrics, ideally with a focus on CGE modelling, energy economics, or natural resource economics, is required. Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience working with teams are essential.
