About the Role

Northern.tech is a leading international company that specializes in securing connected devices. We're seeking an experienced Embedded Linux developer to join our team and help scale up Mender, our over-the-air update solution for IoT and connected devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain high-quality code for Mender, ensuring seamless integration with various Linux-based OSes and boards.
  • Design and implement new features, including support for running Mender on different platforms, such as RTOSes.
  • Collaborate with the team to plan and estimate development tasks, ensuring timely delivery of results.
  • Present deliverables bi-weekly and document new code, ensuring it's properly published.
  • Write comprehensive tests for all new code and debug issues related to your work.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in embedded Linux programming.
  • Excellent knowledge of C++ language and experience in development for embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with at least a few of the following:
    • RTOSes (e.g., Zephyr, QNX, Integrity, FreeRTOS)
    • Understanding of bootloader functionality (including boot scripts, configurations, boot environments, and installation).
    • Yocto
    • Embedded memory storage (eMMC, SD, Raw NAND, NOR) and understanding of partition layout, file systems, and software requirements for reliable implementation.
  • Upper Intermediate/Advanced English communication skills.
