PhD Position in Functional Genomics

We are seeking a highly skilled PhD candidate to join our research team at Nord University, Norway.

About the Project

The PhD project aims to investigate the molecular basis of life-history variation in Atlantic salmon. The successful candidate will design and conduct experiments to identify potential target genes for precision breeding of reproductive characteristics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and conduct experiments to identify potential target genes for precision breeding of reproductive characteristics
  • Analyze data using bioinformatics tools and statistical software
  • Communicate research findings through publications and presentations
Requirements
  • A master's degree in a relevant field of study (e.g., genetics, genomics, or a related field)
  • Grade average of B or better
  • Proficiency in English
  • Preferred: Experience in molecular genetics wet-lab work, programming skills in R, and familiarity with bioinformatics
  • Advantageous: Prior experience in functional genomics
