About the Role
The Director Acquisitions will be a key member of our European Programming and Acquisitions team, working closely with colleagues based in Stockholm, Madrid, Paris, Amsterdam, and Prague.
This role is responsible for supporting ongoing and future acquisitions of content for WBD, undertaking negotiations with major studios, European, and Nordic indies within the division. Key responsibilities include:
- Acquisition of content for the streaming service Max in Europe, with a focus on Nordics.
- Identifying opportunities for acquisition.
- Evaluating content propositions and providing consultative opinions.
- Negotiating content deals for scripted series and movies with a special focus on local content.
- Preparing and distributing internal documentation, including proposals, deal memos, and contracts.
- Maintaining market trend awareness and competitor insights in our markets as well as the international content rights market.
- Representing the company at industry events.
- Internal administration and communication.
About You
We're looking for an experienced professional with a proven track record of negotiating content acquisition deals. Your skills and qualifications should include:
- Relevant experience in rights acquisition within the Nordic media/broadcast/TV industry.
- Established relationships with rights owners, particularly in the Nordic region.
- Strong understanding of the Nordic rights markets, broadcasters, competitors, and media industry.
- An analytical mindset and sensitivity to market trends.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex contracts.
- Excellent written and spoken English, plus one or more Nordic languages.
- A collaborative approach and alignment with WBD's values.
