Electronics Research Fellow in Norway

The Department of Physics and Technology at the University of Bergen invites applications for a PhD Research Fellow in microelectronics. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of the readout system for FoCal, a high-resolution calorimeter for the ALICE experiment at CERN. The position is a fixed-term appointment for 3 years, with the possibility of a 4th year with career-promoting work.
About the Group
Our group participates in ALICE, which is currently preparing for a fourth round of data collection from ultra-relativistic proton-proton, lead-lead, and proton-lead collisions at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. One of the planned upgrades of the ALICE detector for Run-4 is a new high-resolution calorimeter (FoCal) that will contribute to new insights in forward physics.
Your Responsibilities
Develop the readout system for FoCal, including designing programmable circuits and systems;
Participate in integration with other parts of the detector;
Characterize the behavior of the readout electronics in radiation tests;
Collaborate with the team to achieve project goals;
