Job Description

The role of Data Centre Technician at ATC Computer Transport & Logistics is a critical position responsible for the installation and upkeep of cabling to ensure seamless operations of hardware networks. This includes equipment and server/network rack decommissioning. The successful candidate will have opportunities for advancement towards supervisory or team leadership roles, with comprehensive training and mentorship provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend clients' sites on time, with all required equipment, uniform, procedures, and documentation, and PPE.
  • Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment.
  • Familiarity with common networking terms, cabling infrastructure best practices, and methodologies.
  • Experience with medium to large, complex project scopes and ambiguous details within work environments.
  • Experience with common tools related to network troubleshooting, including VFLs, OTDR, and power meters.
  • Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including Routers, Switches, and other network gear.
  • Cabling server racks by patching and dressing fibre and copper cables (in certain regions, and training will be provided).
  • Providing industry-leading customer service levels by acting professionally with clients and colleagues at all times.
  • Following clients' procedures and requirements, including health and safety, and security.
  • Communicating with colleagues, including managers, planners, team leaders, and supervisors, in a consistent, timely, and efficient manner. Reports include arrival times, delays, safety concerns, and completion times.
  • Completing daily checklists and providing reports on daily activities or tasks, including other general administration tasks.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time in line with your skills and competencies.
  • Regular physical/visual inspection of IT Server/Network equipment.
  • Installation of parts, laying of additional fibre and copper cabling.
  • Installing, testing, and troubleshooting fibre and copper cabling.
  • Connecting and disconnecting cables patched to equipment in the data centers.
  • Decommissioning of IT equipment (networks, servers, storage, backup devices).

Requirements:

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with high levels of attention to detail.
  • Prior experience with the installation of structured cabling, including fibre and copper.
  • Valid class B driving licence with a good driving record.
  • Basic experience with hand and power tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Email.
  • Language proficiency: B1 level in English.
  • Proficiency in another European language would be advantageous.
