Strategic Legal Advisor for NATO Exercises

We are seeking a skilled Strategic Legal Advisor to support NATO exercises. The successful candidate will provide subject matter expertise in international law, ensuring that training audiences receive realistic and coherent national legal frameworks.
About the Role:
As a Government Liaison, you will act as the focal point for all strategic legal matters pertaining to the affected nation during exercise preparation and execution. You will coordinate with other affected nation political and military representatives and the JWC Exercise Control team. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and fixing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and Technical Agreements on a range of issues, such as cybersecurity and detention. Additionally, you will advise and assist in supporting advisers on specific legal issues, including police, gender, cultural, and heritage aspects.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must have 3 years' experience in influencing national policy making at a strategic level in the field of International Law within the last 10 years. You should also have 3 years' experience in briefing senior leaders/decision makers at the governance level in a National or Multinational environment. Furthermore, you should demonstrate 3 years' experience in support of Exercise Planning and Execution on NATO Operational level or at equivalent level in other organizations. A Master's Degree in International Law is required, and Business English language proficiency is necessary. Valid National or NATO Secret personal security clearance is also required.
Working Conditions:
Each exercise support requirement is anticipated to be 5 to 15 working days per event. On-site work may be required, unless otherwise specified, with up to 12-hour days. If out-of-normal-hours work is required, this will be requested on a per-requirement basis. Any associated travel costs to and from your home location to participate in the activity will be covered by Spektrum.
