The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for driving profitable aftermarket growth through the sale of spare parts packages, upgrades, retrofits, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The role focuses on building strong customer relationships, understanding vessel operations, and leading aftermarket concepts from customer need to complete commercial solution across the installed base of marine topside equipment.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Drive sales of aftermarket solutions, including larger spare part kits, upgrade and retrofit packages, and SLAs
  • Own commercial responsibility for quotations, including cost calculations, margins, scope of supply, and offer quality 
  • Proactively plan and execute sales activities to achieve annual sales and margin targets within assigned markets or segments 
  • Establish and maintain close, long-term customer relationships, including regular customer visits and travel, to understand operational needs and identify lifecycle improvement opportunities 
  • Lead aftermarket concepts from identified customer needs through to defined technical and commercial solutions, in close cooperation with engineering, project, and service teams
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration to develop tailored, value-adding aftermarket solutions 
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of aftermarket offerings, customer service, and support programs 
  • Monitor, achieve, and report on sales performance, pipeline, and budget progress 
  • Ensure proactive aftermarket sales efforts aligned with the company's aftermarket and lifecycle strategy 


Qualifications

  • Technical education in mechanical, marine, or related engineering discipline 
  • Experience in aftermarket sales within maritime, offshore, or industrial OEM environments
  • Proven ability to translate customer operational needs into commercial and technical solutions
  • Strong commercial understanding of pricing, margins, and lifecycle support
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
