Junior Seaman

The Junior Seaman supports the maintenance, cleanliness, and preservation of the ship's decks and exterior areas. Working under the guidance of senior deck officers, this role assists with day-to-day deck operations, safety routines, and port activities. Professional conduct and teamwork are essential, especially in guest-facing areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain and preserve decks, rails, and superstructures through cleaning, washing, painting, and routine upkeep.
• Assist with deck operations including mooring, line handling, and port activities.
• Follow all shipboard safety procedures, PPE requirements, and daily instructions from supervisors.
• Document tasks when required and report equipment issues or safety hazards.
• Participate in onboard training, familiarization programs, and mandatory drills.
• Support guest-facing operations by following established policies for guest interactions.
• Perform additional duties as requested by supervisors or management.

Qualifications:

• Completion of STCW Basic Safety Training (mandatory).
• Required flag state certificates valid at the time of embarkation.
• Previous experience in deck operations or maritime service is preferred.
• Basic seamanship skills, ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and understanding of safe working practices.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Language Requirements

• English proficiency (spoken and written) is required.
• Additional languages are an advantage.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Comfortable working outdoors and in varied weather conditions.
• Must be fully able to participate in emergency procedures and shipboard safety drills.
• Work involves standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and working in moving environments.
