The primary purpose of the Medical Scientist (MS) role is to provide medical and translational scientific expertise to support Nykode Therapeutic's early clinical development programs. The role serves as a medical expert within cross-functional development and research teams, delivering disease-area insights in oncology and immune tolerance to guide indication strategy and development decisions. The MS contributes to effective trial execution through medical oversight of sponsor-driven and investigator-initiated studies, including investigator engagement and sponsor safety oversight. In addition, the role supports medical review of key clinical documents and the dissemination of clinical data through publications and scientific communications.

 

The responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:  

  • Being a medical expert by identifying, interpreting and sharing relevant scientific- and clinical data.
  • Contribute with medical expertise (scientifical and clinical) in cross-functional development and research teams.
  • Medical disease insights and treatment landscape in oncology and immune tolerance (auto-immune diseases).
  • Ensure team contribution for disease area insights, treatment guidelines and ongoing clinical development focus indications.
  • Daily operational oversight for sponsor-driven and investigator-initiated trials, e.g. clinical lead calls, trial team meetings, protocol deviations, and sponsor safety oversight, including safety vendor oversight.
  • Leverage valuable insights from external environment to enhance internal decision-making in the drug development process.
  • Medical reviews and updates of relevant clinical material, including but not limited to protocols, IB, safety reports, clinical study reports, clinical development plans, manuscripts, and abstracts/posters.
  • Data dissemination/publication planning, coordination and preparation (e.g. clinical abstracts, scientific papers, co-ordination with presenting author).
  • Ensuring support to research and technology activities within oncology and immune tolerance to ensure medical need perspective in early research development decision-making.

The role will report to Chief Medical Officer

Education and Experience

  • MSc or PhD within life science, e.g. biological, pharmaceutical science or similar relevant fields.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience within a pharmaceutical or biotech company.
  • Experience with oncology and preferably immunotherapy (I&I).
  • Solid scientific/clinical oncology and immunology/tolerance experience understanding & knowledge
  • Proven experience with planning/execution of drug development strategies
  • Knowledge and experience in clinical trial conduct
  • Knowledge of GCP and regulatory procedures and guidelines
  • Experience with translational medical science and early-stage program support.
