Stavanger, Rogaland, Norway Wood PLC Full time 900,000 - 1,200,000 per year

You'll be part of an experienced team supporting clients across industries with vibration and noise-related challenges. The role offers professional development, mentorship from skilled (and world renowned) colleagues, and the freedom to shape your own path within a niche area that matches your strengths and interests .

The person we hire will be responsible for helping to grow our Vibration Noise Dynamics business in Norway.

The Role

Based on your background, the position offers a dynamic mix of office-based engineering and on-site support, both onshore and offshore, for high-profile clients. You'll work independently at times, so a proactive mindset is essential. Whether analyzing data, troubleshooting vibration issues, or collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, your work will contribute directly to solving real-world challenges. If you're looking for a role that blends technical challenges, autonomy, and the chance to grow within a supportive team, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

You will join a strong team locally in Norway and therefore all candidates must currently have the right to reside/work in Norway. This is not a remote working position.

Key Objectives

The right candidate for the role will have a blend of experience, for example, the ability to:

  • Build and analyse computational models to evaluate structural dynamics, fatigue, and noise propagation, supporting safe and efficient design and operations.
  • Perform piping vibration screening assessments in accordance with the Energy Institute's guidelines, contributing to the prevention of fatigue failures in process pipework.
  • Conduct offshore and onshore vibration assessments, including hands-on data collection and troubleshooting investigations to identify and resolve vibration-related issues.
  • Support business development by attending client meetings, identifying opportunities, and promoting Wood's vibration consultancy services in the region.
  • Prepare high-quality technical documentation, including reports, drawings, specifications, and engineering notes, to communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Engage with clients and project stakeholders to discuss technical matters, present solutions, and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Contribute to engineering bids and proposals and actively participate in the introduction of innovative ideas and practices to enhance team performance and service delivery.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Typically, 5+ years of relevant engineering experience (more experienced candidates can also be considered), preferably within the offshore energy sector or related industries.
  • Solid understanding of vibration phenomena affecting machinery, static equipment, and structural systems, with practical experience in field measurements and diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with vibration measurement tools such as transducers and analyzers, and experience with simulation software e.g. ANSYS, BOSpulse, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of excitation sources and their impact on vibration, with the ability to apply Energy Institute Guidelines to both greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • A proactive team player who can also work independently in field and office settings, contributing to client relationships and identifying opportunities to expand Wood's presence.
  • Bachelor or master degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients and colleagues. Fluency in Norwegian is desirable.

Key elements of the Wood Norway Consulting environment:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Opportunity to work with some of the industry's leading vibration experts based on our offices in the UK, North America and Asia-Pacific.
  • Opportunities to have a meaningful impact in technically challenging projects in Norway and Internationally.
  • Opportunities to collaborate amongst a wealth of technical and personal development resources.
  • Support throughout your career.
  • Opportunities for site visits in Norway and overseas.

Our employee benefits include:
