GE HealthCare is a leading global medical technology and digital-solutions innovator. Our purpose is to create a world where healthcare has no limits. Unlock your ambition, turn ideas into world-changing realities, and join an organization where every voice makes a difference, and every difference builds a healthier world.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and test embedded C++ software for hand-held medical ultrasound applications

  • Write software that is robust, well documented, maintainable, and extensible - both for new developments and when extending or changing existing code

  • Write software that is testable and well covered with unit tests

  • Efficiently work in an agile team of highly skilled developers with mutual coaching through design discussions and code review

  • Work with a cross-disciplinary team of product owners, usability experts, and clinical experts to understand user value and shape product requirements that can be implemented on time, on cost

  • Relentlessly pursue world-class product quality and user experience

Required Qualifications
  • You hold a degree in computer science or one of the STEM majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) with advanced experience.

  • You have extensive experience with embedded software development using modern C++ (C++17 and later).

  • You have experience in designing and implementing complex software systems and architectures. In doing so, you choose fitting, properly documented abstractions and efficient implementations.

  • You work efficiently with existing code bases. You are comfortable refactoring also large parts of legacy code where necessary to fulfill a task.

  • You understand the value of unit tests as an enabler for safe code changes, also for embedded low-level code. You treat tests like product code and ensure sufficient test coverage for both additions and changes to existing code.

  • You understand both the potential and the limitations that generative AI has for software development. You are comfortable with using modern generative-AI tools to your advantage in the full spectrum of your work.

Desired Technical Expertise

Additionally, you have at least one of the following qualifications:

  • Experience with Yocto, the Linux kernel, and microcontroller programming

  • Experience with FreeRTOS or other bare-metal operating systems

  • Experience with code optimization such as Neon/SIMD, CUDA, or OpenCL

  • Experience with continuous-integration tools such as GitLab CI or Jenkins

  • Experience with containerization tools such as Docker or Podman

  • Experience with distributed code-versioning workflows with git

  • Experience with ultrasound physics and algorithms

  • Experience with mathematical modelling of physical systems

  • Experience with signal and/or image processing

  • Experience with algorithm development from prototyping in Python, Matlab, or similar to final implementation in C++

  • Basic knowledge of analog and digital electronic circuits

Desired Personal Qualities
  • Beyond your exceptional technical expertise, you are able to efficiently and clearly communicate with colleagues from different functions. You can explain complex technical topics in simple ways without compromising correctness. You listen actively to avoid misunderstandings.

  • You are able to solve difficult problems independently, also when faced with adverse odds and setbacks. In doing so, you don't hesitate to seek information and help where necessary.

  • You are able to apply a first-time-right attitude in a highly regulated environment where changes are expensive, striking a balance between speed and perfection.

  • You lead by example and are eager to learn from the examples of others. You thrive in a team that wants to excel together.
