Nordic Retail Manager

We are seeking an experienced Retail Manager overseeing our store fleet in the Nordic region. The position is based out of our offices in Oslo, Norway. We are looking for an experienced individual who likes to work hard AND play hard This is a fun, challenging, and dynamic environment where you will get an opportunity to demonstrate your experience alongside an outstanding and supportive team. The Retail manager is the Helly Hansen's primary point of contact towards the stores located in the Nordic countries. They are responsible for understanding, influencing, and implementing all HR, P&L, Merchandising, Training, and Marketing decisions for their location in conjunction with rules and standards set forward by Helly Hansen central Retail Team.

The manager is expected to be an active contributor to the retail team. Helly Hansen aims to be a high performing, and respected retail organization in the outdoor and sports industry. The position reports to the European Retail Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fully accountable for the Nordic store fleet performance and profitability.
  • Responsible for Store openings, planning and execution.
  • Manage staffing process and store opening events.
  • Expense & cost control on running base together with store managers.
  • Train and support store managers and staff on product, systems, General Administration, HR-issues, visual merchandising, retail marketing coordination, inventory analysis.
  • Take full ownership of HH various store concepts and contribute to ongoing evaluation and development of the different concepts.
  • Manage vendor relationship linked to the various store concepts.
  • In corporation with Global teams, support in cross regional initiatives and events, such as implementation of sales competitions, training sessions, motivational events and monitoring activities.
  • Support store openings and retail events outside the Nordic Region.
  • Represent regional retail in the regional management group.
  • Represent regional retail in monthly review meetings with GM and Financial Controller.
  • Together with dedicated HR support from HQ, have full HR responsibility for all HH Retail employees in the region. Responsible for all hiring and firing, annual salary adjustments, execution of bonus schemes, annual evaluation and coaching of key personnel.
  • Report to Financial Controller on all staff related cost elements.
  • Together with Global Assortment Planner and store managers, be responsible for seasonal flow of relevant products to optimize sales and profit.
  • Responsible for receiving product to the location, maintaining stock levels, and following the sale prices laid out from the product team for their seasonal product assortments.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • The ability to provide the highest level of service to support the stores and ensure performance and excellence so that the customer experience is always outstanding.
  • 3+ years of retail management experience, preferably in the sporting goods or outdoor apparel industry.
  • Experience with retail operations and a clear understanding of brand market strategies.
  • Self-motivation and the drive to succeed.
  • Entrepreneurial drive with excellent communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency (word, excel, outlook, etc.)
  • A passion for the outdoors.
  • The ability to work under pressure and manage challenging situations.
  • A history of thriving in a fast-paced environment while continuing to provide the support needed to ensure the stores expected performance.
