At People Made Machines (PMM), we believe the best systems start with solid foundations, and that means good data, smart infrastructure, and purposeful design. As a tech consultancy focused on AI and data, we're now looking for a Head of Data Engineering to help shape the next phase of our growth.

We're a small company with a strong sales engine and a trusted client network. Since our start in 2023, we've sold consultants for over 35 million NOK.

As Head of Data Engineering, you'll lead our data engineering discipline. That means setting direction, making architecture decisions, mentoring other engineers, and representing PMM in client projects. You'll play a key role in designing data platforms that enable high-impact AI systems and smart, scalable products. You'll collaborate closely with our CTO, and help clients connect technical decisions to business outcomes.

We're looking for someone who's comfortable both getting hands-on and thinking strategically and commercially. Someone who knows how to design robust data infrastructure, but also enjoys guiding others and building a team culture around quality, learning, and impact.

This is a hybrid role: around 80% of your time will be spent as a consultant on client projects, typically embedded with a cross-functional team. The remaining ~20% is allocated to leadership tasks, including team development, interviews, architecture direction, and support in technical sales.

  • You've led other engineers, enjoy helping them grow, and are ready to shape and scale a team, not just contribute as an individual
  • You bring a consulting mindset: structured, clear-thinking, and comfortable in new domains
  • You contribute actively to sales processes, from understanding customer needs to shaping solutions and winning new engagements
  • You build relationships with key clients and identify opportunities for further growth
