Kongsberg Discovery creates today's and next-generation underwater technology that helps our clients explore and understand marine life and the ocean space. The technology we build is used by vessels, research ships and underwater vehicles around the world - every single day. Echosounders, ADCP, sensors and systems that use sound to map the marine life, the seabed and the water column in some of the world's most demanding environments.

With us, you will develop software from scratch from initial sketches to the finished product. You will work closely with other developers, team leads, architects and product owners in developing the products throughout their entire life cycle. We Have Two Of Our Own Test Vessels In Horten Where We Take Our Software Products For Live Testing And Feedback

Role
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Echo Sounder Team. We encourage both junior and senior developers to apply for this role. You will developing cutting-edge software for Ocean Science, Fishery, and Mapping sectors:

  • Developing and maintaining software interfacing with proprietary hydroacoustic sensors with implementation of complex high-performance algorithms.
  • Collaborating with hardware and firmware teams to ensure system performance and reliability.
  • Participating in agile development, testing, and integration—both in lab environments and aboard vessels.
  • Working with global software teams to build reusable modules for high-performance applications.

Experiences we believe are important to succeed in this role:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science/Applied mathematics/Related technical field – OR similar professional experience within this field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate in teams but also being self-going.
  • Proficiency in modern object-oriented languages (e.g. C#/C++).
  • Beneficial with knowledge/experience with Matlab.
  • Knowledge/experience with modern software engineering methodology, patterns and tools.
  • Knowledge/experience in software testing and verification.
  • Good language skills in both Norwegian and English.
  • Beneficial with knowledge/experience with hydroacoustic sensors.
