JOB DESCRIPTIONAbout the Role As a Real-Time Operations Center (RTOC) Engineer in NOV's Downhole Broadband Solutions (DBS) group, you will play a key role in enabling smarter, safer, and more cost-efficient drilling operations. You will remotely monitor and support offshore drilling activities, ensuring optimal performance of NOV's Wired Drill Pipe (WDP) and Along-String Measurement (ASM) technologies.This role demands a strong foundation in drilling mechanics, hydraulics, and real-time data analysis, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You will work closely with offshore teams to ensure seamless data transmission, operational efficiency, and service quality improvements. Key Responsibilities Operational Support - Remotely monitor, advise, and optimize drilling operations using NOV's Wired Telemetry System. System Maintenance - Maintain and support downhole data transmission systems from shore, ensuring reliable real-time data flow. Collaboration - Work closely with offshore personnel, including Drilling Supervisors, Directional Drillers, and the Driller, to ensure operational excellence. Data Management - Serve as the focal point for real-time downhole data distribution and analysis. Reporting - Produce daily operational reports for internal and external stakeholders. Troubleshooting - Provide remote technical support and resolve system or data transmission issues. Training & Mentorship - Guide and mentor junior RTOC Engineers to build internal competency. Quality Improvement - Collaborate with the service quality team to identify and address performance gaps. Asset Management - Coordinate offshore logistics and asset tracking.Qualifications & Skills Essential Qualifications: BSc or MSc in Engineering (e.g., Petroleum, Drilling, Geology) - foundational for understanding drilling operations. Minimum 5 years of experience in drilling mechanics, hydraulics, or related technical occupations. Experience with rig-site systems and offshore operations (e.g., mud logging, data acquisition systems). Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Fluent in technical English (spoken and written). Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to handle real-time operational challenges.Desired Qualifications: Proficiency in Norwegian (spoken and written). Familiarity with real-time data visualization and analysis software. Prior experience in remote operations centers or automation systems. Knowledge of drilling optimization and digital well delivery workflows. Soft Skills Analytical Thinker: Able to quickly assess complex technical issues and develop practical solutions.
