As a Research Scientist with us, you'll be at the forefront of developing and shaping Cloud and AI solutions, and the connectivity services and core networks needed in the transition from 5G to 6G. Your contributions will help us push the boundaries of what's possible. We believe AI is one of the fundamental technologies of the 21st century, and our goal is to make Telenor a data-driven AI company. We do this through solving business problems of high impact using AI, and by providing strategic advice to decision makers in Telenor.

You will work with some of the best minds in the industry on cutting-edge research projects within next generation technologies, AI/ML, and analytics that shape the future of telecommunications. We work across different domains such as networks, marketing, customer care, and IoT, with different types of data such as location data, CRM data, sensor data and text, and we use state of the art models such as deep learning and reinforcement learning. Key Responsibilities:

1. Define and conduct research within the R&I value creation programs such as 'AI for responsible business impact', 'Intelligent networks and advanced solutions', 'Cloud transformation program', and "Bluesky research program" and collaborate with researchers in Telenor R&I, Telenor employees from the business units, external academics and industry partners/customers.
2. Take part in ongoing research activities and lead research within important topics.
3. Publish research papers and attend conferences to share and learn.
4. Identify and pursue research within topics of high importance for Telenor R&I and Telenor's strategic agenda.
5. Contribute to strategic and operative recommendations and implications of the research results and present to relevant stakeholders.
6. Continuously monitor emerging technology and societal trends that influence Telenor´s business, our industry and society at large.
7. Participate in internal research and innovation projects of R&I in close collaboration with national and international universities and research communities, and other Telenor partners/customers.
8. Contribute to our collaborative culture.

Experience:

1. A Ph.D. or similar research experience in Computer Science or equivalent, preferably with a specialization in Machine Learning and 3-7 years of relevant experience after the Ph.D.
2. Familiarity with the workflow and iterative processes of building effective machine learning systems.
3. Experience with open-source Machine Learning/Deep Learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Keras) is a plus.
4. Comfortable with the mathematics of Machine Learning - ability to tweak machine learning algorithms.
5. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
6. A positive attitude, self-driven, and open-minded.
7. A passion to influence through research.
8. Enjoy presenting complex topics to top management and willing to invest time to become a better speaker and communicator.
9. An interest in the Telecom industry.
10. Broad understanding of computer systems and computer networks, especially at the intersection between IT and telecommunication networking.
11. A team player who puts the team first and respects different personalities and points of view.
