Oslo, Oslo County, Norway Six Robotics Full time

Are you passionate about designing cutting-edge hardware for autonomous systems? At Six Robotics, we develop advanced drone platforms for ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance), combining software innovation with a diverse range of hardware—drones, sensors, cameras, embedded GPUs, and more. As we expand our hardware capabilities, we seek a Mechanical Engineer to enhance the design, manufacturing, and testing processes of our drone platforms.

About the role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in refining and evolving our existing drone platforms to improve manufacturability and performance. In addition, you will oversee the mechanical hardware for our hardware-in-the-loop test environment. This position combines hands-on design, supplier management, and the development of cutting-edge lab environments to support our software and AI teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and modify mechanical components for existing and future drone models using 3D CAD.
  • Optimize drone designs for faster, more efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Utilize 3D printing and additive manufacturing techniques for prototyping and part production.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and external manufacturing partners.
  • Oversee and develop our hardware lab and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test suite to support the software team.
  • Perform FEM (Finite Element Method) analysis and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations to enhance performance and structural integrity.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design and experience designing complex mechanical parts.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D printing and additive manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and ability to manage suppliers.
  • Experience maintaining and improving hardware lab environments for testing and development.
  • Knowledge of FEM and CFD analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of a Scandinavian language is advantageous.
  • Residence and work permit in Norway (or willingness to relocate, we welcome applicants looking to move to Norway).
Nice to Have
  • Experience with drone or robotics design.
  • Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing environments.
  • Background in fluid dynamics or thermal analysis for UAV systems.
We Offer
  • A dynamic and collaborative work environment driven by innovation.
  • The opportunity to shape the next generation of drone technology.
  • Access to a state-of-the-art hardware lab and development tools.
  • Competitive salary, benefits, and opportunities for career growth.
  • A team dedicated to high standards, structured development, and technical excellence.

Are you ready to build amazing technology?

Join Six Robotics and be at the forefront of innovation in UAV development. Apply today by sending your resume and a brief cover letter explaining your passion for building and designing drones and laboratory for testing.

For any inquiries about the position, feel free to reach out at contact@sixrobotics.com.

We look forward to hearing from you and potentially welcoming you to our team of innovators
