Project QHSER Manager

Onboarding you to the Company

At Nexans, our global vision is to electrify the future. In our business group 'Generation & Transmission' this means designing and fabricating the world's best Submarine cable systems. We have the best tools, equipment, and people with competence and skillset to engineer, manufacture, and deliver marine cable systems. The STSC Business Unit supplies Subsea cables and systems within Telecom and Energy Markets with tailor-made solutions on our clients' demand.

Welcoming you to the team

The STSC Project Department is responsible for the project execution of Submarine cable EPC Contracts with the main manufacturing site in Rognan.

Our team enables the company in its ability to plan and execute projects with the right level of "Quality, Health, Safety, Environment and Risk" (QHSER). Your role as QHSER Manager will be to manage QHSER activities on assigned projects. When required, you may also support the projects with other tasks as Project Deputy Manager. The workplace is in Oslo or Rognan, and you will be reporting functionally to the Project Director and operationally to the Project Manager.

Getting a flying start

To succeed in the role of Project QHSER Manager, you have experience from the marine and/or manufacturing-based industry. You have worked in companies that are project-driven, which have activities related to managing Quality, Risk, or HSE aspects in projects. Your experience can be from any engineering discipline, project, or line management. Passion for Quality and Risk assessment work is the major key to succeeding in this role, as training and guidance will be given on the specific tasks. You are comfortable taking the lead by ensuring quality and safety in the projects.

How you make an impact

As a Project QHSER Manager, you will work within a project team to facilitate all aspects of quality and risk assessment analysis, ensuring QHSER standards are upheld from tender to project close-out. Your role will be crucial in managing and assuring that Nexans' QHSER system and the client's requirements and expectations are met.

Additionally, you will:

  1. Coordinate and Facilitate QHSER Activities: Ensure high focus on Nexans' QHSER objectives across projects within the STSC project department.
  2. Facilitate Risk Assessment: Follow up on mitigation actions to maintain the highest standards of quality and safety.
  3. Ensure Compliance: Oversee overall project compliance with our Project Execution Model.
  4. Develop and Implement Quality Plans: Ensure Project Quality Plans and procedures are in line with the project execution model and contract requirements.
  5. Act as Deputy Project Manager: Step into the role when requested.
  6. Manage Reporting: Handle internal and external project reporting.
  7. Manage Non-Conformance Reports: Evaluate the effective implementation of concessions/deviations, corrective actions, and preventive action management processes.
  8. Conduct Audits: Coordinate client audits and perform audits on suppliers/sub-contractors.
  9. Change and Knowledge Management: Oversee change and knowledge management processes.
  10. Follow-Up on Sub-Suppliers: Ensure thorough follow-up of project sub-suppliers.

Your starting point when you join

Educational Background: University degree (MSc, MBA, BSc, or similar), preferably in engineering or QHSER discipline. Relevant experience and/or a QHSER mindset can compensate.

Experience: Preferably QHSER experience from the marine and/or manufacturing-based industry.

Proactive Attitude: Self-driven with the ability to be assertive in implementing and following up on QHSER requirements.

Language Skills: Fluent in Norwegian (preferred) and English, both written and oral.

Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal, team player, and communication skills.

Alignment with Values: Strong alignment and identification with Nexans' values.

Our growth Culture

At the individual level, our growth culture is built on trust and collaboration. We wish to welcome you as a valuable member of our team. To enable impact, we believe in freedom and autonomy at the individual level while encouraging knowledge sharing, teamwork mentality, and a can-do attitude amongst our team members.
