Laerdal is seeking a Material Specialist eager to make a difference

As a Material Specialist, you are responsible for choosing the best possible materials for our physical products across the Laerdal manufacturing sites. You will contribute to material innovation in product development and strive for finding sustainable alternatives for our current materials.

Some key responsibilities:

  • Select correct materials to parts and products by interpreting user needs, mechanical requirements, regulatory requirements, and sustainability guidelines.
  • Conduct practical material trials, prototyping, and testing.
  • Actively search for new materials for Laerdal applications and keep up to date with current development in relevant technology areas.

  • Support global sourcing and local procurement in supplier evaluation and the search for new suppliers.
  • Support manufacturing with selecting appropriate manufacturing processes and exploring new technologies.
  • Create and maintain relevant documentation for materials.
  • Share material knowledge and participate in problem-solving whenever appropriate.
  • Strive for harmonization and standardization of materials used in Laerdal globally.

You:

You are innovative, highly motivated, and work equally well independently as within a team. You can break down complex problems into steps that drive product development at high speed. You strive to solve challenges and work as a detective in the world of materials.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Degree in material science, polymeric materials, or biomaterials, preferably at master's level. Lower education with proper experience can be applicable as well.
  • Wide knowledge of polymeric materials and a good understanding of different polymer processes (for example, injection and rotation molding, casting, 3D-printing).
  • Experience with materials selection for industrial applications and in a highly regulated environment.
  • Experience with recycled and bio-based materials.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

What we offer:

  • A competitive salary, pension scheme, and insurances.
  • A job with a purpose and cutting-edge technology with innovative, collaborative, and supportive material team members around you.
  • A creative, diverse, and inclusive working environment.
  • An international office environment close to the center of Stavanger.
  • Great opportunities for growth and personal development.
  • Company benefits such as indoor bicycle garage, wardrobe with towel service, different sports clubs, company cabins, "hjem-jobb-hjem" for commuting, and many more
