Description
The opportunity
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) & Sustainability is our top priority. In this role, you will oversee HVDC HSE & Sustainability, translating business and corporate strategies into actionable plans that ensure compliance, sustainability, and scalability. As a member of the HVDC management team and a key contributor to the HSE & Sustainability Leadership team of the BU Grid Integration, you will report to the Senior VP of HVDC and have a dotted line to the BU Head of HSE & Sustainability. You will lead a global team of over 100 people.
As the Head of HSE & Sustainability for HVDC, you will collaborate closely with the BU function to develop, deploy, and implement the Grid Integration and Hitachi Energy HSE & Sustainability strategy and operating system within HVDC. You will drive improvements across a global organization, encompassing multiple office locations, manufacturing sites, test facilities, and various project and service sites. Global travel to meet with the organization, partners, customers, and to visit sites is an essential part of this role.
You will join a growing team, offering a great opportunity to develop your role and team within the company. We lead through our leadership pillars, with diversity, equity, and inclusion as our cornerstones, recognizing that everyone brings unique skills and competencies.
Your responsibilities
- Promote HSE & Sustainability Culture: Drive and promote a strong HSE & Sustainability culture within the HVDC global EPC organization, aligning with company strategy.

- Deliver Improvements: Provide value-added findings, opportunities for improvements, and best practices in a dynamic environment.
- Train and Support: Train, coach, and support the organization in Health, Safety, and Environmental issues.
- Manage HSE Systems: Own the HSE management system, assist with audits, and perform internal audits against ISO standards.

- Valued Personality Traits: Structured, systematic approach, strong drive, agile mindset, and transformational leadership.
- Communication Skills: Solid communication and influencing skills to build trust and balance stakeholders at different organizational levels.
- Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in English, both written and spoken, due to the international environment.
