Nexans PWR Transmission (High Voltage Cable Manufacturing and Installation) is growing rapidly. We have secured an impressive backlog of projects which translates into a commitment for continuous delivery of our turnkey projects for the years to come. The Raw Material Purchasing team is a specialized team of 5 Category Managers responsible for all strategic purchasing topics related to raw materials within the PWR Transmission business group. We are looking for a temporary team member to cover for a maternity leave in the team. The workplace is in Oslo, and you will be reporting to the Head of Raw Materials Purchasing.

Getting a flying start

To succeed as Raw Material Category Manager, you have a minimum of 5 years' experience in Purchasing and/or Supply Chain. You have preferably worked in companies that are project-driven and have activities related to fabrication. You have experience working domestically and internationally. Ideally, your experience is related to interconnectors, wind farms, or power from shore. You will be comfortable with ensuring quality and safety during the projects. You have experience with Ariba/SAP systems and ensuring cross-functional cooperation with internal customers, and you have a natural mindset for cost-effectiveness. Coming up with innovative solutions and new ways of working will be an essential skill set in this position.

How you make an impact

You will work strategically with activities such as defining the purchasing strategy and performing market surveillance, as well as securing that all raw materials purchasing is going according to procedure. With your leadership skills, you will ensure that the design-to-cost exercise and cost optimization is performed to our standards. In addition, you will be comfortable with negotiating frame contracts, price lists, and implementing contracts and agreements. You will also lead status meetings and handle major claims towards raw materials suppliers. You boost your impact by actively promoting Quality, HSE, and best practices.

Your starting point when you join

  • Bachelor's degree within relevant fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • In this role, the likelihood of succeeding will increase if you have a cost mindset and good communication and negotiation skills.
  • As we work with purchasing, it is important to have a professional and competitive mindset, whilst having the ability to ensure good cooperation.
  • In Nexans, we work in teams and are driven by project execution; therefore, being able to work strategically is of utmost importance.
  • Fluent in English, – oral and written; Norwegian is a plus.
