Oslo, Oslo County, Norway PCI Biotech Holding ASA Full time

PCI Biotech is a biopharmaceutical company focusing on developing and commercialising new technologies and novel therapies through its photochemical technology platform originating from world-leading research at the Oslo University Hospital. We are a small team of 7 employees, located at Oslo Cancer Cluster Innovation Park in Oslo, Norway. The company is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange under the ticker PCIB.

The technology platform is under development in two different areas: (1) Photochemical lysis (PCL), for increasing yield and reducing impurities in gene therapy (viral vector) manufacturing, and (2) Photochemical internalisation (PCI), inducing light-triggered endosomal release, which may unlock the potential of a wide array of modalities.

Scientist

PCI Biotech seeks a Scientist to its new laboratory in Oslo Cancer Cluster Incubator. We are looking for a self-driven, proactive, and motivated Scientist to join our laboratory team. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing PCI Biotech's internal research activities in our newly established suspension cell laboratory for viral vector production. The role requires a good understanding of biological systems and biomedical sciences as well as proficiency in practical laboratory techniques. Experience within biomanufacturing and/or photochemical methods is considered an advantage. The position is temporary for 6 months, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on execution of in vitro laboratory work and experiments to explore and develop our photochemical technologies, e.g., cell culturing, transfection, viral vector production, and relevant assays like ELISA, qPCR, etc.
  • Analysis and reporting of experiment outcomes
  • Participation in regular meetings with the research team to discuss results and agree on the future experimental strategy
  • Proactively take initiative and contribute to the daily operation of the lab, e.g., ordering of equipment and consumables, maintenance, etc.
  • Master's degree within molecular biology, cell biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or similar
  • Bachelor's degree acceptable, if compensated with relevant experience
  • >2 years of relevant lab experience, preferably within bioprocessing (viral vector production). Experience with cell culture work and basic molecular biology assays like ELISA and qPCR is a minimum requirement
  • Experience with photochemical methods is an advantage

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills while being autonomous, efficient, responsible, organised, and rigorous
  • Curious, committed, and open-minded
  • We are above all looking for an agile person capable of working in a small laboratory team

Duration, location, and reporting line

  • The temporary position is up to full-time for 6 months, with the possibility of extension
  • The position is based at PCI Biotech's facilities in Oslo Cancer Cluster Incubator and requires daily physical attendance
  • The position will be reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer

PCI Biotech offers an exciting role in a small, agile, and innovative company, focused on enabling tomorrow's therapies.
