We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD Research Fellow to join our team at the Department of Physics.

About the Job

The successful candidate will be part of the Norwegian Nuclear Research Centre (NNRC), a cross-disciplinary collaboration between Norway's leading institutions within nuclear physics and nuclear chemistry research.

The NNRC addresses major research questions within the nuclear field, spanning topics from nuclear properties and medical isotope production to reactor simulations and modeling of the spread of radioactivity in the environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented researcher to contribute to cutting-edge projects and develop their skills in experimental nuclear physics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct experiments and data analysis using the OSCAR detector array and complementary experiments at international research facilities.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of experiments, as well as the development of new experimental techniques.
  • Collaborate with international research groups and contribute to a larger international research collaboration.
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must have:

  • A Master's degree in physics or equivalent, with specialization in nuclear physics.
  • Familiarity with particle and gamma-detectors, as well as data analysis techniques relevant for level density and photon strength function studies.
  • Knowledge of nuclear structure models from master-level courses and experience with using nuclear reaction codes like TALYS.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with fluency in English.
