Job Description

The University of Oslo and the Natural History Museum are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as an Associate Professor in Zoology. This is a full-time position with a start date of January 1, 2026 or by agreement.

As a key member of our research community, you will be responsible for curating and developing our zoological collections, conducting cutting-edge research, and teaching students at various levels. Your expertise in systematics, taxonomy, and/or evolutionary biology will be invaluable in advancing our understanding of animal diversity.

  • Salary from NOK 730 000 to NOK 830 000 depending on qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in biology
  • Postdoctoral research experience in zoology, with a strong focus on systematics and/or taxonomy
  • Excellent English language skills (written and spoken)
  • Proven ability to attract external research funding and collaborate with other researchers
  • Strong teaching and supervision skills, with experience in mentoring students at various levels
