
Associate Professor in Animal Biology

The Natural History Museum at the University of Oslo seeks a highly skilled professional to join our team as an Associate Professor in Zoology. This is a full-time position with a start date of January 1, 2026 or by agreement.
As a key member of our research community, you will be responsible for curating and developing our zoological collections, conducting cutting-edge research, and teaching students at various levels. Your expertise in systematics, taxonomy, and/or evolutionary biology will be invaluable in advancing our understanding of animal diversity.

As an Associate Professor in Zoology, you will be responsible for:
- Teaching students at various levels, including undergraduate and graduate courses
- Mentoring students and postdoctoral researchers in their research projects
- Collaborating with other researchers, both nationally and internationally
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in biology
- Postdoctoral research experience in zoology, with a strong focus on systematics and/or taxonomy
- Excellent English language skills (written and spoken)
- Proven ability to attract external research funding and collaborate with other researchers
- Strong teaching and supervision skills, with experience in mentoring students at various levels
