Job Description

The Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture at Nord University is seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to investigate the effects of vitamin D on the nutrition, health, and welfare of Atlantic salmon. This research project will explore the impact of vitamin D supplementation on mineral nutrition, welfare, bone, and skin health.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in fish nutrition, especially micronutrient nutrition, and excellent analytical skills. The ideal candidate should have practical experience in cell work and good knowledge of statistical analysis, including R programming.

This PhD project will employ a combination of nutritional trials, molecular biology techniques, histology, and biochemical analyses to elucidate the functional role of calcifediol in salmon nutrition and health. In vitro cell studies will be conducted to better understand the mechanisms by which calcifediol affects bone and skin health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on the effects of vitamin D on Atlantic salmon nutrition, health, and welfare.
  • Design and implement nutritional trials to test the impact of vitamin D supplementation on mineral nutrition, welfare, bone, and skin health.
