Your Challenges
  • Job Purpose: The Area General Manager is accountable for leadership, management, and development across all aspects of a data center portfolio of accounts. This includes service delivery, quality, health, safety, and environmental (QHSE) management, statutory compliance, people and talent management, operations management, and the continual development of the customer base.
  • Key Accountabilities: Deliver outstanding client outcomes on accounts; full responsibility for profit and loss, including the development of contract financial plans for revenue and profit delivery, reduction of work-in-progress (WIP), debt, cost reduction, and contract growth; ensure that these are met and exceeded.
  • Provide leadership and ensure the planned development of a defined portfolio of contracts to ensure that contractual commitments are met and exceeded; exploit opportunities for the strategic development of the portfolio to deliver increased turnover and profitability, add additional services and projects, and re-win contracts on re-tender.
  • E nsure that business policies and processes are effectively communicated and implemented within the contract; provide healthy and safe working conditions and implement both clients' and Company health and safety policy and process across both services and subcontractors' activities.
  • Ensure a customer focus within all areas of operational activities, maintain effective relationships with key client contacts, and promote and maintain the CBRE RISE values (Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence).
  • Provide a learning environment, training and development planning, basic training needs delivery, employee competence, and potential realization.
  • Ensure optimum staffing structures operate across contracts, balancing cost reduction with service excellence delivery; support peaks and troughs in workload, disaster recovery, and expertise sharing across the portfolio.
  • Ensure contracts are staffed by competent teams, take direct responsibility for contract manager appointment, ensure post-holders are competent, and effective succession planning arrangements are in place.
  • Support sales through solution development, presentation participation, consultation meetings, hosting visits, and mobilization as required on new contracts.
  • Collaborate with other Operational managers to develop the business, ensure effective teamworking, and support colleagues.
  • Ensure appropriate contract review, audit, and control systems to ensure statutory, policy, and contractual commitments are met.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, advice, coaching, and direct support to deliver best practice selection, training, assessment, employee engagement, recognition, and reward.
  • Support effective business communication through advice, review, leadership, and direct contribution to management and team meetings, briefings, consultation forums, correspondence, publicity, monthly, and ad-hoc reporting, and other publications.
  • Stand in for the Business Unit Leader in case of leave.
Requirements
  • A relevant technical background with long-standing experience within the data center market, particularly in managed services.
  • At least 5 years of cross-functional management experience in DC operations or service delivery for large data centers (2,000 m2).
  • Profound knowledge of all technical DC segments covering mechanical and electrical (M&E) maintenance and ICT operations.
  • Good understanding of 'state-of-the-art' data center technologies and their implementation to ensure operational excellence.
  • Proven experience in business development and customer relationship management with the capability to communicate professionally with different client stakeholders at top levels.
  • Ability to gain trust and support of top-level management and key client decision-makers.
  • Good commercial acumen with excellent financial and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build up and lead management teams while ensuring best people management practices are applied to continuously improve managed services.
  • Excellent motivating and influencing skills of subordinate levels and high personal integrity.
  • Good understanding of employer and labor law.
  • Self-confident and assertive attitude with pronounced organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and deliver accordingly.
  • Ability to balance strategic targets and client satisfaction.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety legislations necessary to ensure employees' well-being.
  • Ability to manage conflict and crisis situations effectively for all stakeholders' satisfaction.
