Job Title: Telecoms Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Telecoms Engineer to join our team at SBM Offshore. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Telecoms Engineering and/or Construction and/or Project management, with a minimum of 15 years' experience in the Oil & Gas industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and determine Telecom requirements and considerations applicable to projects.
  • Define specifications for suitable Telecom equipment.
  • Review and analyze vendor offers, identifying discrepancies with project specifications or proposals.
  • Define test protocols and procedures, and attend FAT at supplier locations.
  • Provide technical support and lead teams of engineers and technicians on Telecom issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with Certification Authorities (ABS) requirements relating to Telecoms.
  • Perform calculations of system power consumption and define cable schedules and interconnection diagrams.
  • Provide technical support to Services Sales and Proposal/Estimating departments.
  • Respond to client requests for troubleshooting and technical recommendations.
  • Collaborate with TPMs to define Telecom activities for projects.
  • Ensure project teams are aware of client specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Identify and follow up on design changes, and prepare proposals for variation orders.
  • Recommend Telecom inspection requirements on projects.
  • Monitor and review internal drawings, specifications, and documentation.
  • Attend and contribute to internal meetings where Telecom systems and equipment are discussed.
  • Participate in material receiving and ABS coordination under the System Responsibility Listing.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 15 years' Oil & Gas experience in Telecoms Engineering and/or Construction and/or Project management.
  • 5 years' petrochemical experience with emphasis on FPSO/FSO production installations.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with other relevant languages desirable.
  • 5 years' proven supervisory experience.
  • Excellent practical knowledge of Permit to Work.
  • Mandatory CompEx Hazardous Areas IEC60079-14 & 17 training completed with a valid certificate.
