ROLE SUMMARY

The Telecoms Engineer will be responsible for analyzing and specifying Telecom requirements, defining specifications for Telecom equipment, and reviewing vendor offers. The role involves reviewing and analyzing vendor's offers, analyzing and taking action on discrepancies with project specifications or proposals, defining test protocols and procedures, and attending Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) at supplier locations. The Telecoms Engineer will also provide technical support, lead and give directions to groups of engineers and technicians on Telecom issues, and keep abreast of Certification Authorities (ABS) requirements relating to telecoms. Additionally, the role involves performing calculations of system power consumption, defining cable schedules and interconnection diagrams, and providing technical support to Services Sales groups and Proposal/Estimating Departments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze and specify Telecom requirements and considerations applicable to projects
  • Define specifications for suitable Telecom equipment
  • Review and analyze vendor's offers and take action on discrepancies
  • Define test protocols and procedures and attend FAT at supplier locations
  • Provide technical support, lead and give directions to groups of engineers and technicians on Telecom issues
  • Keep abreast of Certification Authorities (ABS) requirements relating to telecoms
  • Perform calculations of system power consumption and define cable schedules and interconnection diagrams
  • Provide technical support to Services Sales groups and Proposal/Estimating Departments

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 15 years' Oil & Gas experience in Telecoms Engineering and/or Construction and/or Project management
  • 5 years' petrochemical experience with emphasis on FPSO/FSO production installations
  • Proven supervisory experience
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • 5 years' proven supervisory experience
  • Mandatory CompEx Hazardous Areas IEC60079-14 & 17 training
