Role Overview

As a Senior Flexible Pipeline Design Engineer, you will be responsible for crafting flexible pipe solutions tailored for subsea applications, adhering to TechnipFMC's standards, procedures, and budgets, while maintaining a strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction. Projects will vary in geographical scope and will encompass all phases from conceptual design to detailed engineering and life extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct critical evaluations of project documentation to ensure all necessary inputs are clarified and available.
  • Execute flexible pipe structure designs in line with specifications, design guidelines, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Utilize both industry-standard and proprietary software for configuration design.
  • Thoroughly review your work prior to submission for further assessment.
  • Collaborate with Centers of Expertise on technical matters outside standard design protocols.
  • Participate in client meetings and deliver effective presentations regarding project work.
  • Engage proactively with project teams to ensure successful design and delivery of products.
  • Prepare calculation reports, manufacturing specifications, and contractual deliverables.
  • Review the work of fellow engineers to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Promptly raise any concerns regarding project execution risks to stakeholders.
  • Continuously assess practices and advocate for improvements through the application of lessons learned and innovative solutions.
  • Assume the role of Project Lead: oversee and support the work of team members assigned to your project; ensure the engineering scope is delivered in accordance with company standards, project quality, deadlines, budgets, and expectations; guide the team towards project objectives; define and manage the engineering activities schedule aligned with project milestones; estimate and monitor project engineering budgets; ensure adherence to internal check processes for all activities; organize design reviews; coordinate with Discipline Leads to optimize project execution plans; liaise with Project Management Teams; and ensure successful project close-out.

Interactions:

Internal: Collaborate with Team Leads, Project Stakeholders, and Center of Expertise Engineers.

External: Engage with TechnipFMC clients regarding project scopes.

Formal Education:

A degree in Engineering (B.E/B.Tech/M. Tech or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine Structures, Aerodynamics, Civil Engineering, Materials, or relevant experience as a design engineer.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 5+ years of experience as a design engineer or a PhD.
  • Strong technical foundation in subsea engineering, particularly in flexible pipe design or dynamic analysis of risers, Pipeline Engineering, or Riser Engineering.
  • Experience in leading design engineering scopes.
  • Customer-focused approach.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Prior experience managing engineering teams is advantageous.

Additional Skills:

Expertise:

  • Technical skills (required): Design Engineering, Basic Physics, Engineering Mechanics, Subsea Engineering, Flexible Pipe Design, or Dynamic Analysis.
  • Technical skills (preferred): Experience in analysis such as FEA, Fluid Mechanics, Engineering analysis, etc.
  • Specific skills: Interpersonal, Communication, Problem Solving, Team Collaboration, Proactivity.
  • Computer skills: Proficient in desktop tools (Pack Office). Familiarity with OrcaflexTM/Flexcom/Deeplines is a plus, as is experience with automation tools (VBA, Python, Matlab, etc.).
  • Language skills: Fluent in English.
