Aquabyte is a pioneering aquaculture technology company dedicated to revolutionizing the sustainability and efficiency of fish farming. Our mission is to make fish farming cheaper and more viable than livestock production, thereby mitigating one of the biggest causes of climate change and helping prepare our planet for impending population growth.
Our Product
We are currently focused on developing innovative solutions to help salmon farmers better understand their fish populations and make environmentally-sound decisions. Our product operates at three levels: on-site hardware for image capture, cloud pipelines for data processing, and a user-facing web application.
The Role
We're seeking a highly skilled Field Research Technician to join our team and help us ensure our fish farming customers are successful. This is a 6-month full-time position.
Key Responsibilities
- Service work with testing and troubleshooting of equipment
- General service and maintenance of cabinets and cameras
- Washing and cleaning material from field trips
- Preparation of cables and installation of various components
- Calibration of cameras
- Handling of fish during field experiments
- Technical support of field research activities
- Data entry and annotation
- Communicating with farmers and other researchers
Requirements
- Previous experience working with fish is preferred but not necessary
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong empathy, excellent interpersonal skills, positive, engaging
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated desire for continuous learning and improvement
- Basic tech skills, Excel experience is a plus
- Ability to travel 2-3 days away from Bergen sporadically
- Fluent in Norwegian and English, writing and speech
- Physically able to lift around 25kg
- Boat driver's license preferred but not required
- Valid driver's license is required as the position involves some driving
