Job Description

The Department of Natural History at NTNU has a vacancy for an ecologist to contribute to the development of a digital twin of Norwegian biodiversity. The successful candidate will work with the development and implementation of data integration workflows and models that form the basis for this digital twin.

About the Position
The position is funded by the centre for environmentally friendly energy research, FME Interplay - Integrated Hub for Energy System Analyses (INTERPLAY). As a postdoctoral fellow, you will have the opportunity to develop a strong profile as a researcher and gain valuable experience relevant for your further career. The purpose of a postdoctoral position is to build up a researcher profile that qualifies for a position as associate professor.

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will conduct research of good quality, take the lead in writing scientific articles and popular science dissemination, and participate in international activities such as conferences and/or research stays at foreign educational institutions. Additionally, they will be expected to communicate and involve with various stakeholder groups to ensure relevance of research and end products.

Requirements
A professional background in ecology or related fields of research, strong quantitative background, and documented experience in working with integrated species distribution models are required. The candidate must also have completed a relevant doctoral degree in ecology or similar subjects and excellent oral and written presentation skills in English at a high academic level.

Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience from digital product development, stakeholder engagement, and popular scientific dissemination, as well as publications in recognized international journals, are considered desirable. Non-Scandinavian citizens must document good oral and written presentation skills in English.
